Ilika is pleased to announce the opening of our Stereax solid state battery manufacturing facility in Chandlers Ford on Friday 3 December 2021. The new facility will manufacture our Stereax micro batteries that are designed for powering next generation implanted medical devices and industrial wireless sensors used in the Industrial Internet of Things.

The facility was opened by the Rt Hon Steve Brine, MP and the Rt Hon Lord Willetts, former Minister of State for Universities and Science and author of the influential “Eight Great Technologies” government policy. Representatives from the local council and the National Microelectronics Institute also supported the opening. The ribbon was cut to open the new cleanrooms, where a controlled environment will enable the manufacture of Stereax batteries to the desired reliability, yield and quality that will provide customers with a top-quality power source for their devices.

Ilika has been developing Stereax mm-scale batteries and this new facility will now enable manufacture at scale, ready for commercialisation Q2 2022 of Ilika’s first product, the Stereax M300 micro battery (300uAh, 5.6x3.6x0.9mm).

Ilika CEO Graeme Purdy said: “We are very excited to open this new facility which will be the first of its kind in the UK and we are looking forward to selling Stereax micro batteries to markets that cannot be addressed with conventional batteries.
